Last week the Task Force to Oppose Gambling in Chicago and the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform disclosed that Illinois legislators, legislative campaign committees and candidates for state constitutional offices had received almost $1.7 million in campaign contributions. This report was based on dollar amounts the politicians had reported to the state in 2005 and 2006, the latest information available. (more…)

Prominent Online Gambling Site makes massive cutbacks
Tuesday, April 17th, 2007Sports Direct, home of Covers.com, had a massive downsizing today. There were across the board cuts affecting every department. At least 28 people were let go.
Some of the bigger salaried employees let go were Shawn Torrey, who was in charge of the handicapping division and senior sports analyst Stephen Nover, who will remain as a handicapper with the company. Many writers also were let go. (more…)
